ABOUT
Henrietta Jordan was born in 1979 in Aberdeen, Scotland. Following a BA Hons degree in French, She studied at Newcastle College of Art, the Heatherley School of Fine Art, and London Fine Art Studios. She has lived and exhibited in London, France, Singapore, Wiltshire, East Anglia and Scotland and has twice been selected for the New English Art Club annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London.
Henrietta lives and works in Scotland where her rich native landscape, as well as travels abroad, inform her painting. The light and colours of Southern Europe are of particular inspiration. She paints with freedom and energy, ‘en plein air’, but increasingly in her studio, where she refers to these plein studies and memory, to produce larger works.
Influences include Gauguin, Matisse, Hitchens and Doig, whilst contemporary favourites include Tim Braden, Kate Giles, Simon Carter, Annabel Gault and Antonia Showering.
Henrietta’s work is fast building momentum and a strong following. She feels most alive when painting, and believes passionately in the power of art to elevate our everyday experiences, and in the deep connection between creativity and human emotion.
